Perast — 20 Minutes Along the Bay Road
From TIV, turn left out of the airport and follow the bay road north through Lepetane, Muo, and Prcanj. The road hugs the waterline with the bay on your right and limestone cliffs on your left. After roughly 20 minutes, you arrive at Perast's single main street — a one-lane waterfront promenade lined with stone palaces.
Parking in Perast is limited to a small lot at the north end of the village and roadside spaces along the approach. In summer, arrive before 9 am or after 5 pm to find a spot without circling. There are no car parks inside the village itself — the street is too narrow.
The Two Islands
St. George (Sveti Djordje)
The natural island sits 200 metres offshore, recognisable by its tall dark cypresses and the 12th-century Benedictine monastery behind them. The island is closed to visitors, but boats from Perast's jetty circle it closely for photographs. Views are best in early morning when the bay is flat.
Our Lady of the Rocks (Gospa od Skrpjela)
A man-made island built by locals throwing rocks and sinking old boats over centuries. The tradition continues every July 22nd during the Fasinada festival, when residents fill boats with stones and motor out to reinforce the platform. Taxi boats from Perast's waterfront run every 15 minutes in season — roughly 5 EUR return. The small church inside holds a collection of votive paintings by Boka sailors.

Walking Through Perast
The village has no traffic — just one paved promenade along the water. Walk south to north in 10 minutes, passing stone palaces, the tall bell tower of St. Nicholas church, and several waterfront cafes with bay views. The Perast Museum occupies the Buiovic Palace at the south end and documents the town's maritime history, including its role training sailors for the Venetian fleet.
Banja Monastery
Continue north past Perast toward Risan for 2 km and you reach the Banja Monastery on the right side of the road. The monastery holds religious artefacts from Russian, Greek, and local Boka dynasties. It is usually open mornings only — check at the Perast tourist office on the waterfront.
